Evidence-based, person-centred behaviour support that focuses on understanding, prevention, and positive strategies.
Understanding the Service
Specialist Behaviour Support is an NDIS-funded service delivered by qualified practitioners who assess, understand, and address behaviours of concern. The goal is never to simply manage behaviour, but to understand the reasons behind it and develop positive strategies that improve quality of life for participants and those around them.
Our behaviour support practitioners use evidence-based frameworks to conduct thorough functional behaviour assessments. These assessments look at what is happening in a person's life, environment, and support systems to understand why behaviours of concern are occurring.
Based on these assessments, we develop comprehensive Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs) that are practical, respectful, and focused on enhancing the person's life rather than just reducing behaviours.
All of our practitioners are registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission and operate within the Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework.
Every plan is built around the individual, their preferences, and their goals.
We use proven frameworks and current research to inform all strategies.
We uphold dignity, minimise restrictive practices, and protect human rights.
Plans are regularly reviewed and adjusted based on outcomes and progress.
How We Help
Our qualified behaviour support practitioners provide a comprehensive range of services tailored to each participant.
Thorough assessments to understand the function and triggers of behaviours of concern, informing effective support strategies.
Detailed, practical plans with proactive and reactive strategies that support workers and families can implement day-to-day.
Training for support workers, families, and carers on implementing behaviour support plans and using positive strategies.
Active work to reduce and eliminate restrictive practices, replacing them with evidence-based positive alternatives.
Regular data collection, analysis, and reporting to track progress, measure outcomes, and adjust strategies as needed.
We work alongside allied health professionals, support coordinators, and families to ensure a consistent, team-based approach.
The Process
Our structured approach ensures thorough assessment and meaningful, lasting outcomes.
We receive a referral, review the participant's NDIS plan, and schedule an initial meeting.
Our practitioner conducts observations, interviews, and data gathering to understand the behaviours.
A comprehensive Positive Behaviour Support Plan is developed with input from the participant and their circle.
The plan is implemented with training, monitored for progress, and reviewed at regular intervals.
